life is easier without a horse

A horse seems like a thing to want. They’re powerful, beautiful, fast. A companion on the journey.

And so I spent a lot of time searching for just the right one and then bonding with it. Farming apples and carrots and feeding it dutifully.

And it was cool and novel to have a horse for a while.

But then it began to feel like a burden. It had needs and it didn’t always want to go where I wanted to go.

And I was worried about it all the time. Where had I left it? Was it still there?

I occurred to me that I could explore this world more easily on my own. I couldn’t move as fast as a horse, but I could climb and go wherever my fancy urged me. The horse was a thing and I don’t want to be weighed down by things.

So I left her outside the Hateno Tech Lab and trusted that Purah and Symantec would care for her and headed out. Light. Free.
